A perennial, evergreen shrub, with a long creeping, yellowish root. The stem is 4 to 10 inches, generally simple.
The leaves 1 to 2 inches long, are at the top of the stem in irregular whorles; are shortly petiolate, lanceolate, acute,
serrate, shiny green. The fragrant white or purplish waxy flower appear in Jun and July in terminal pedunculated umbels.
Found in :-
High, dry woods from Canada to Georgia and west to the pacific ; North America, northern Asia, northern and central Europe.
