Synonymes :, Eugenia Jambolanum, Jambol Seed, Jambo;

A tree, having hard wood and growing upto 50 or 60 feet in height,
with an astringent bark; used in dyeing. The flowers are in cymes
or corymbs. The fruit is edible, half to 1 ½ inch long, green when
young, pink while ripening, almost black when fully ripe. The seeds
are irregular ovoid masses, about the size of coffee barriers; reddish to dark-brown externally, and somewhat darker internally,
taste and odour slightly peppery.
